田植えの機械化(Mechanical rice transplanting: MRT)に注目した研究。インドでは、労働集約的かつ重労働となる田植えは男性よりも女性の仕事と考えられているため、労働節約型技術であるMRTの導入が手作業での田植えを置き換える割合は性別間で異なる。そのため個人単位では、男性に比して女性の方がMRT導入に対する希望は高い。しかしながら、女性が最終的な意思決定に与える影響は小さいため、家計単位での需要へはあまり反映されず、MRT導入は未だ低い水準にある。
